HISTORY OF NATIONAL DAY

Any day for any group of professionals are celebrated for their achievements, importance and identity in the society hence the idea of celebrating our National Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technologist Day came to the thoughts of Mr. Firoj Alam - 1st Secretary General AIAAOTT and was proposed by him in a governing body meeting held in the conference hall of Shri Dada Dev Mother & Child Hospital (SDDMCH) Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Dabri, Delhi-110045 on 2nd of July 2017. The idea was discussed among the members present in the meeting and the foundation day of our association “20th JULY” was proposed, which was accepted and finalized by everyone present in the meeting.

The proposal was endorsed by Dr. Pramila Bhalla, MD Aneasthesiology (Ex- Associate Professor, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi; Ex- MS ESIC Hospital Basaidarapur New Delhi; Ex- MC ESIC Head quarter, Panchadeep Bhawan New Delhi) a well-known name in India among the technical professionals of our cadre because of her book for the OT Technicians and her efforts for the upliftment of this technical cadre academically.

The endorsement was appreciated by everyone present in the meeting, afterwards the announcement was made by Mr. Manish Kumar – 1st President AIAAOTT, to observe our 1st National Day as NATIONAL ANAESTHESIA & OPERATION THEATRE TECHNOLOGIST DAY on 20th July 2017. The auspicious time of this announcement was welcomed by enlightening PANCH DEEPA by Dr. Pramila Bhalla and other dignitaries of the association. All the members given a big hand for this auspicious time and distributed sweets among each other.

The announcement of this day celebration on 20th July was advertised through a notice by AIAAOTT and the same was published by an Indian Newspaper THE INDIAN EXPRESS- CHANDIGARH on July 16th 2017. The professionals of this cadre across the country did a warm welcome to this decision and it was just like a festival to them. It was surprising that this First National day celebration was reported from many states and union territories of our country.

Here onwards the national day shall be celebrated every year on 20th July. This will help to honor and recognize the positive impact that Aneasthesia and Operation Theatre Technologists have in health care system. As health care becomes more collaborative, Anaesthesia & operation Theatre Technologists are integrated into care teams, the true significance of the profession has come to light.
